“Is the Prayer of all Religions Directed to God and Heard by God?” by Andrew J. Schatkin
I am a Christian and so an integral and basic article of my faith is that Jesus made the claim to be god and I believe him to be the true god just as I accept his claim to be the sole way and mediation to god and I also accept and adhere to the Decalog the book of Exodus to have no other gods before the true god. And so what I wish to examine and understand is what of the prayers of other faiths and religious systems of thought? Do these prayers reach Jesus and the holy trinity in heaven or are they heard by a different god? Many people of whatever religion they may born into and follow do so with little choice on their part and it is likely they simply follow their family tradition. And so if someone prays with sincerity to a different god in name from Jesus and god the father and the holy spirit and do so sincerely and with the intent to reach and understand god, that prayer reaches Christ who I believe to be the true god and his final manifestation to a broken and desperate humanity. The person praying is seeking to know and reach god, whatever god they may understand him to be, but for me as a Christian, any and all prayers to whatever god or gods reach and are heard by Jesus even though the person in prayer may be simply following their tradition. I respect all faiths and am sure that god and, for me, Christ, hears all prayer to all gods and whatever form that prayer may take.
