“A Prayer to Jesus, 8-18-20,” by Andrew J. Schatkin
Dear Jesus, son of god and savior and redeemer of the world and mankind, You suffered on the cross for the sins of all humanity… Lead us to join in the cross event so that we can be with you in your compassion and love for all men and women. Bring us to your pain and suffering so that we can come to understand your great and massive love that did not stop at becoming a man, coming from the mansions and precincts of heaven and on the cross showing us a love and sacrifice that none of us can little understand. Bring us to the cross and teach us to understand that it is only when join with you in the pain and suffering of the cross that we can only dimly grasp and understand your limitless love and grow in your love that has no limits. Teach us that we can only grow in your love and come to love when in the suffering and trials and tribulations of our lives we come to know and understand the love of the cross.
In each moment and second on the cross, Jesus showed us his love in the midst of unbearable and searing pain and in the cross; we can only know true love when we join in his pain and suffering and come to know who he is and what we can become.
