“The Prayers of Little Children: How Does God Hear Them and Interpret Them?” by Andrew J. Schatkin
My dear friends and colleagues and you of all faiths, opinions, and ideas about God and his nature. I ask you to join me in consideration of the topic of how does God hear and understand the prayers of little children and interpret the prayers of these innocents. Jesus in the gospels told and tells us of his great love and concern for these children and told his disciples who wished to not have them approach him to tell them to come to him for such is the kingdom of heaven. What then are we to make of Jesus’ obvious great love for these innocents’ lives and how does he understand their prayers that rise to him from the little ones? Jesus hears the prayers of children and understands their prayers by reason of their innocence to be of significant value. He knows the sincere love for him founded in the children’s prayers and so knows and understands the innocent love and faith exhibited for him and knows the children’s prayers are from the heart and soul and not from the desire to gain and get and obtain. The children’s innocence is seen and understood if not comprehended in their prayers. We are told that the child’s communication is likened to the kingdom of heaven—the new world order without evil, wickedness and selfishness and self-love. The prayer of the child is the way the world will be when not based on being smart or good looking and having nice clothes but on innocent and giving love. Jesus wants to and does hear the prayers of children, knowing their greater value as they approach and speak to him in loving and innocent prayer and communication.
