“A Prayer to Jesus, 9-3-20,” by Andrew J. Schatkin
Dear Jesus, eternal god and savior of all peoples and nations, I pray to you to know where we can find you the true god. Many people will say they can find god through meditation. They are really saying that is to be found in themselves and by themselves. This is gross arrogance and an intellectual error of great magnitude. Those who hold this view are reasoning and operating with the limitations of their egos and themselves. To think we can find the true god by our own efforts and within ourselves is to be made a fool of. There are others who think they can find god in current fads and politics. They may be guided and think they can reach intellectual truth by political ideological conviction a view of immense shallowness since politics and commercial fads are meant to fool us and mislead us. Where can we find you, dear Jesus? We can find you in your holy word. It is in God’s word holy scripture that you may always be found and we can come to know your nature and who we are who you are and what we must do the form our lives in your image and follow you to the joy and love of heaven with all the saints and angels and archangels.
Finally, all men and women are formed in your image and if they come to know you they are and will be transformed into your image. In our neighbor whose image of god and Christ, they bear is in all persons we encounter that you may be found beings formed for eternity and for eternal love with you in the precincts of heaven. And then it is in the church and in the sacraments that we can come to know you and have the relationship and friendship you offer and wish for all men and women created to share your love and joy.
