“A Prayer to Jesus, 8-13-20,” by Andrew J. Schatkin
Jesus, the only begotten son of the eternal god, the savior and redeemer of the world, we pray to you once again to come into our souls and spirits and reside and join with us as we are transformed into something new and wonderful and as this happens we move into another and greater stage of life as your image takes hold on us. In the gospel of John, chapter three, you told Nicodemus, a man of the pharisees, a ruler of the Jews, and in response to his statement that Jesus was a teacher who came from god, ‘for no one can do these signs that you do unless god is with him.’ Jesus responded, ‘truly, truly, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of god. And Jesus then says in response to Nicodemus, ‘how can a man be born again when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?’ And Jesus responded, ‘unless one is born of water and the spirit, he cannot see the kingdom of god.’
Dearest Jesus, you tell us if we are to enter the kingdom of god, we must be born again. Aid us to be reborn in your image and likeness and make us into something new, the new man, the forerunner of the new race, the new humanity in you. Change us in rebirth into the eternal beings you have promised we can be and become a being that can cross worlds and the universe. Rebirth us into the eternal being we can and are capable of being, an eternal godlike being sharing with you the joy and love of heaven and all the angels.
