“A Prayer to Jesus to Make us Realize the Confusion of the World and our Fallen Confusion,” by Andrew J. Schatkin
Jesus, Lord of all creation and you who within you contains all knowledge and wisdom, you who possess the mind and thoughts of the eternal god, preserve us from the lies and confusion of the world and its misleading messages and false guidance. You know more than we know we are sinners in a fallen world and you know how fooled we are by the falsehoods of the world, continually misled to believe that we are really good if not very good and to deny the mirror reality of sin. Bring us to truly know ourselves, fallen and deficient, driven not by your command to love our neighbors, but driven and convinced by love of self-denying our faults and our sins.
Bring us to true knowledge of the world whose basis is wealth and money and even looks and clothes and make us know the lies these messages represent and, more important, make us know and face the lies about ourselves. Bring us to the truth in you that can only make us free and so bring us to the truth of the world and its lies and so enable us to reach our true intellectual and spiritual potentials rejecting the world and its false messages and seeing not in the celebrities the face of perfection but seeing in the homeless the face of your eternal love.
